I’m extremely disappointed and concerned about how this clinic handled my cat Maya’s vaccination.
Maya was supposed to receive a two-dose FeLV vaccine series. Her first dose is listed in the medical record as FeLV, but no vaccine sticker was placed in her vaccination booklet, so I do not have independent documentation showing the exact vaccine product or lot/serial number that was administered.
Her second dose was given on 12/29/25 and is handwritten in her vaccination booklet as “2nd FeLV.” However, directly next to that entry, the clinic placed a sticker for PUREVAX Feline 3 — FVRV-FCV-FPV Vaccine, MLV, which is an FVRCP vaccine, not an FeLV vaccine. The sticker also has its own serial number and expiration date.
Naturally, I contacted the clinic because I wanted to know what vaccine was actually administered to my cat. Unfortunately, instead of receiving one clear answer, I received different and conflicting information from multiple staff members.
At one point, the clinic gave me a specific serial number and told me it was the serial number for Maya’s second FeLV vaccine. Later, after I continued asking about the discrepancy, they told me that the serial number they had provided was incorrect and that I should disregard it.
That left me in an even worse position than before. The electronic medical record says “Leukemia,” the handwritten vaccination booklet says “2nd FeLV,” the physical vaccine sticker says PUREVAX Feline 3/FVRCP, and the serial number the clinic initially gave me as confirmation of the FeLV vaccine was later acknowledged by the clinic to be wrong.
I asked them to verify the exact vaccine product and lot/serial number that was actually administered, because this directly affects Maya’s future vaccination schedule. At this point, I still do not have reliable documentation that allows me to independently confirm what was actually administered for the second dose. Since the first FeLV dose also did not have a sticker in the booklet, this experience has unfortunately made me question the reliability of the documentation for the first dose as well.
To be clear, I cannot prove from the records whether the wrong vaccine was physically administered or whether the correct vaccine was given and the documentation/sticker was wrong. That uncertainty itself is the problem. As a pet owner, I should not have to guess which vaccine my cat received because the electronic record, handwritten vaccination record, vaccine sticker, and serial-number information do not agree.
The clinic initially offered to refund only the second FeLV dose. We pushed back because the documentation problems also undermined our confidence in the first dose and in the validity of the two-dose FeLV series as a whole. They ultimately refunded both FeLV doses.
I appreciate that they eventually issued the refunds, but a refund does not resolve the underlying concern. I now have to discuss this entire situation with another veterinarian and figure out how to manage Maya’s future FeLV and FVRCP vaccinations without unnecessarily repeating vaccines or leaving her inadequately protected.
I do want to add that Maya had previously been seen at this clinic when she was sick, and that was a good experience. I was happy with the medical care she received at that time. Unfortunately, the vaccine experience was a completely different story.
What concerns me most is not simply that one sticker may have been placed incorrectly. Mistakes can happen. What destroyed my confidence was the inability to get a consistent, reliable answer afterward — including being given a vaccine serial number as confirmation and then later being told that the serial number itself was wrong.
Accurate vaccine documentation is an important part of a pet’s medical history, not a minor administrative detail. I had a good experience with this clinic for general medical care, but the handling of Maya’s vaccines and vaccine records was extremely disappointing, and I no longer feel comfortable relying on their vaccination records going forward.
Dr. Shan is amazing. My 13 year old cattle-pitt mix has a limp with inflammation showing at the elbow and had muscle spasms a few nights ago out of the blue. Dr. Shan's many years of experience showed while she looked him over and had a conversation with me about what she was seeing and asked a few questions. Her evaluation of him and approach with me left me feeling like I have an idea of what's going on and a plan to help him. All of this was quick and to the point and with rates that were very reasonable. I feel like I have help now with Harley's senior health and I'm so glad I tried Salish on the advice of a friend. I recommend Salish and Dr. Shan.
